Members Helping Members
Celebrating International Credit Union Day's 75th Anniversary!
International Credit Union (ICU) Day offers a platform to reflect on the credit union movement's rich history and highlight current achievements and future aspirations. Since its inception in 1948, the annual event has taken place on the third Thursday in October, serving as a beacon for credit union innovation, member experiences, and social impact.
.
This year's theme for ICU Day is Members Helping Members.
How you helped us celebrate!
Over $1,500 going to local food banks!
In the spirit of Members Helping Members, we accepted donations to food banks local to our service locations, and our membership did not disappoint!
With the cash donation provided by DNCU and the non-perishable food and cash donations accepted on behalf of our members, we will be donating in excess of a $1,500 value to these local charities!
Kids coloring contest
We invited the kids to get involved and offered them a coloring contest, and we received so many entries!
There will be prizes awarded soon, winners will be contacted by their local service location!
.
We reached out to the Teens
We wanted to hear about local organizations that have helped them or organizations they are part of!
They were able to win a $250 donation to that organization in their name and a $50 gift card for themselves!
Stories of Members Helping Members
We asked our members how another community member or organization has helped them, and you answered!
Here are just a few of the wonderful stories that were shared by our members!
There was a big wind storm at Pasquia Park this summer; 60-70 volunteers came out and helped clean up all the trees. No one organized anything, all these people just knew we needed the help and it had to be done. With all their help, a job that would have taken us weeks was done that day! - Neal Wasko
My daughter and son-in-law had a baby born prematurely in the USA. Lily Anne was born at 24 weeks, 16 weeks before her due date, and was only 1 lb 4 oz.
Due to the extravagant medical expenses, community members created a GoFundMe page to help with medical expenses. Baby Lily Anne is now 7 months old and weighs 7 pounds 2 ounces. We would like to thank everyone for helping with all the funds raised! - Carol Anne Sanders

Salvation Army provides great help for the needs of people in our community and they work very hard to provide this help. - Margaret Anderson United Church (Nipawin) helps folks with meals each third Friday of every month. A lot of work goes into making meals and serving community members in need of a meal with a smile and fun conversation. - Alice Taylor Betty Blue and other Community members have been working towards getting assisted living in our community so seniors who need some aid, but not full-time aid have a place to go. It is great knowing people in our community care and want to help. - Izzy Brigham |

An organization that helped me was Northeast Outreach and Support. NEOSS aims to provide a safe and healthy community where everyone is treated as equals. They sent me to teen summer camp where I had a great time with friends and learned a lot of life skills. - Liam Marinier
